Installing Windows with a USB Flash Drive when you have a computer that does not have a CD drive; it is a problem to install a Microsoft operating system on your machine. We will see how to easily install Windows 7, 8 or even Windows 10 from a USB Flash Drive.
When the computer does not have an optical drive such as a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, installing Windows is more tricky than usual. The problem is identical when you buy Windows directly in the form of an ISO file, or when you want, for example, to test the Windows 10 ISO Technical Preview. The easiest way is to go through a USB Flash Drive by creating a bootable support to install Windows.
For this operation, we will use a small software as simple as practical: Windows USB / DVD Download Tool. After downloading it, just run the program:
Select the Windows ISO image
Once your ISO file is selected, click the Next button.
Install Windows via USB drive
Then click the USB Device button.
ISO Windows on USB Flash Drive
Finally, click Begin copying. Note that all the data on the USB Flash Drive will be lost!
Windows USB / DVD Download Tool will then format the USB Flash Drive then copy the required files from the .iso image of Windows into the USB Flash Drive.
Creating the bootable USB drive to install Windows
After a few minutes, your USB drive will contain your ready-to-use Windows installation!
If you are using an Antivirus with real-time protection, it may be necessary to disable it temporarily if the operation fails.
Your Windows installation USB Flash Drive can now be used: simply insert it into the USB port of your PC and turn it on. If the computer does not boot from the USB Flash Drive, it will then be necessary to get into the BIOS settings to change the boot order of the drives.
